JURY TO GET POLICE BRUTALITY CASE.(Local)

A black Albany family's $3 million lawsuit against seven city police officers for alleged violation of their civil rights will most likely be in the hands of a U.S. District Court jury today.

Clinton and Ruth Simmons and their two sons, Ronald and Dennis, filed the action after a confrontation with police in the early morning hours of June 12, 1982, in front of their home at 167 N. Main Ave.

All four Simmonses testified earlier in the week that police handcuffed Ronald Simmons, poked Clinton Simmons in the ribs, grabbed Ruth Simmons by the wrist and falsely arrested Dennis Simmons after he was knocked unconscious by a flashlight. …
