Fed: Vic woman's death brings national Xmas road toll to ten

SYDNEY, Dec 20 AAP - A Victorian woman has become the 10th victim on the nation's roads
this Christmas period after her car collided with a truck in Melbourne's south-west.

It was the third death on Victoria's roads in two days.

Police said the crash happened just before 4pm (AEDT) yesterday.

The woman from Stuart Mill was airlifted to hospital following the accident but died
from her injuries this morning.

Earlier today, a 23-year-old man died when his car slammed into a tree at Dandenong,
south-east of Melbourne, and a 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed when his bike hit a
car at Shepparton, north of Melbourne.

In South Australia, two people died today in separate accidents north of Adelaide.

A 34-year-old man was killed when his car crashed into a pole at Bowmans, and a 19-year-old
man died when his car smashed into a tree at Berrie.

Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory have not recorded any deaths on their
roads this Christmas road toll period, while there has been one death in NSW, one in Queensland
and three in Western Australia.
