Act: Canberra Hospital nurses get 10% pay rise plus $1,500 bonus
Stiff competition for qualified nurses in Australia has led the ACT's major hospitalto grant an astounding 10 per cent wage rise and $1,500 bonus to its nurses.
They've also been guaranteed a further 4.25 per cent pay increase in January next year.
Canberra Hospital chief executive TED RAYMENT says nurses today voted overwhelminglyto accept the pay offer made by the ACT government.
He says the offer, backdated to December 20, 2001, will take immediate effect.
The one-off $1,500 bonus will be paid to each full-time nurse as well as a pro ratapayment to part-time nurses.
The increase covers registered and enrolled nurses as well as new graduates.
