Fed: Baktiari "confused" about conversation: Activist
A refugee activist has claimed asylum seeker ALI BAKTIARI doesn't remember admittingto a Melbourne newspaper he'd come to Australia from Pakistan.
Melbourne's Age newspaper has reported Mr BAKTIARI -- whose sons attempted to gainpolitical asylum in the British consulate in Melbourne -- admitted he came to Australiafrom Pakistan and not Afghanistan as he originally claimed.
The paper says the admission came after it made inquiries in Mr BAKTIARI's supposed hometown.
But Refugee Action Collective member CYRUS SARANG says Mr BAKTIARI's told him he wasconfused about his conversation with the newspaper.
Mr SARANG's backed Mr BAKTIARI's original claims of being from Afghanistan, but saysthe asylum seeker had visited Pakistan.
